The median hourly pay for pipe layers in the United States was 13.68 and this was in 2004 when the wages were last studies. The lowest ten percent of plumbers, the ones who are just starting out on the job after passing their plumbing training courses were paid 9.19 each hour on an average and the highest ten percent earned more than 25.07. Since that time, the wages have risen.
